I stand accused of being a slobbering Pennsy fan so the New York Central is the enemy. However, as the proud owner of NYC memorabilia, I do have a warm spot for a railroad that ran the New England States, the Twentieth Century Limited, the Empire State Express, and many other great trains. So when a post in a news group led me to this movie, I’m passing it along. All the mainline trains in the run by shots are powered by steam! Enjoy.
My wife was doing a web search on google books and found old issues of Popular Mechanics. She typed “pennsylvania railroad” and found a variety of interesting stuff including this article. It’s fascinating to see reporting that was contemporary with the arrival of this locomotive on the property. As you’ll see, the reported facts about the S1 greatly exceeded the mechanical reality.
